Unlike other industry sectors, an infrastructure for healthcare information exchange is virtually non-existent.
Anywhere, anytime health care information and decision support is what the National Health Information Infrastructure (NHII) is all about. It is a platform for the electronic capture, access, use, exchange and
storage of quality healthcare data.
RKTEK's NHII Platform is built to a federated service oriented architecture which forms the basis for a common framework for clinical process integration. The NHII Platform employs a set of open standard base technologies (such as Web Services/SOAP, UDDI, PKI, Message Queuing, Java, Apache, Linux, Zend Engine) which enables seamless interoperations between different software applications, running on a variety of platforms and/or frameworks.
The employed distributed security and identity management architecture overcomes the seemingly intractable governance model required in a national implementation setting. RKTEK solution was designed from the onset for large scale national rolls out and has an Object Management System that can be deployed to support millions of patient objects in a linearly scalable environment.
The underlying architecture provides for:
- System of interoperable Local Health Information Infrastructures (LHII)
- Common data formats
- Common information vocabularies
- Common set of tools to support healthcare delivery applications (such as electronic prescribing)
- Standardized mechanism for security and identity management
- Access control mechanisms for information privacy enforcement
RKTEK solutions empower the continuity of care with 24x7, 360 degree view of the patient where:
- Physicians, clinicians and patients don’t need to be in the same location to work with each other
- Healthcare transactions such as eligibility claim status inquiries, referrals, and authorizations are available online in near real-time span
- Provider cash flow is improved by clearing and paying claims more rapidly
- Up-to-date best practice information will be universally available replacing opinion-based decision-making by evidence-based decision-making
- Experts throughout the world can create inter-disciplinary team and collaborate on patient treatment
